Steel tooth wheel drill bits are mainly used in soft formations, and insert tooth wheel drill bits can be used in soft to hard formations. In the past, when the insert cone bit was used in the sandstone, conglomerate and other formations with strong abrasive properties, the hard alloy teeth with good toughness were not wear-resistant, while the hard alloy teeth with high hardness and good wear resistance often had a large number of broken teeth, resulting in short service life of the insert cone bit, slow mechanical drilling speed and low cutting efficiency.
