What is a roller cone bit and what are the classifications of roller cone bits?

A roller cone bit is a tool for breaking rock in the earth's crust. The cone bit used in oil drilling and other mining drilling can be divided into single cone bit, two cone bit, three cone bit, etc., all of which are composed of tooth palm and tooth wheel with cutting teeth.

According to the material and structure of the tooth wheel cutting teeth, the tooth wheel drill is divided into two types, one is the steel tooth wheel drill, the tooth wheel on the cutting teeth are all milled by the tooth wheel body material, the second is the tooth wheel drill, the tooth wheel on the cutting teeth are all hard alloy teeth mounted on the outer cone surface of the tooth wheel.

Steel tooth wheel drill bits are mainly used in soft formations, and insert tooth wheel drill bits can be used in soft to hard formations. In the past, when the insert cone bit was used in the sandstone, conglomerate and other formations with strong abrasive properties, the hard alloy teeth with good toughness were not wear-resistant, while the hard alloy teeth with high hardness and good wear resistance often had a large number of broken teeth, resulting in short service life of the insert cone bit, slow mechanical drilling speed and low cutting efficiency.
